Joseph Carola, SJ

Rev. Joseph Carola, S.J. entered the New Orleans Province of the Society of Jesus in 1980 and was ordained priest in 1993. He is Ordinarius in the theology faculty at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and director of the department of patristic theology and the tradition of the Fathers. His historical novel about nineteenth-century Jesuits at the Roman College entitled Dragons: A Roman Requiem is due to be published in 2026.

John Henry Newman built three churches—the Church of Saint Mary and Saint Nicholas at Littlemore in 1835-1836, a temporary church dedicated to the Immaculate Conception for the Birmingham Oratory at Edgbaston in 1852-1853, and the Catholic University Church at Dublin in 1854-1856.
